If you flip through the local papers, no doubt you will see pomeranian puppies for sale from time to time. When looking to purchase a pomeranian, there are some important questions you need to ask. There are many unreputable breeders out there that do not take in to consideration the conditions that affect this breed, and testing remains undone so that they can sell you a "cheaper" puppy. Over the years, many families who initially purchased a cheaper puppy from another breeder have come to us after having spent hundreds or thousands of dollars on a dog that inevitably had to be put down. Don't let this happen to you!
Questions to ask potential breeders of your new pup are:
Are your pups CKC Reg'd?
If not, how can you deem them purebred? (No registration = non-purebred pup by law under the Animal Pedigree Act!)
Are your pups guaranteed?
If guarantee, for how long? (I have seen guarantees that last 24 - 48 hours. That's crazy and useless!)
Are the parents tested/screened prior to breeding?
Are patellas tested as part of that process?
Can the dam & sire be viewed? (Breeders better have a good reason if they can't be!)
What is your background in raising/training pomeranians and/or pups?
Do you have a veterinarian that you would recommend, and who do you use for veterinary services?

SilverMist Kennels sponsors "Kwashie" a young boy in Ghana on a monthly basis to give him a chance at a bright future!
Glenn & Terra Ridland volunteer much of their time to our local Canine 4H Project. As a family, we use this as an opportunity to give back to the community, and as naturals in canine education, Glenn works towards teaching rural youths about proper obedience training with all breeds of dog, while Terra focuses on canine health. This year our two oldest sons were very successful in Canine 4H, taking 1st and 2nd overall on Achievement Day, and winning the first annual SilverMist Trophy, donated by Glenn and Terra Ridland in loving memory of our foundation male shepherd, Ridland's Faramond.
As an avid dog lover, Terra focussed much of her free time from 2001 - 2008 founding her own Pomeranian Placement Program, in loving memory of her first pomeranian, Daisy. During this time, Terra helped obtain veterinary care, grooming and socialization for nearly 40 pomeranians from various breeders. These are poms that needed loving homes, and Terra was there to help. In the end, all of the above mentioned dogs were adopted out to loving homes.
